I have nothing more to say other than these are awesome. This is Daft Punk re-imagined as 8-bit chip tunes. I’ve been sitting here with this tab open on my Firefox for over a week and I’m finally getting around to listening and posting. Needless to say, it’s been a busy few weeks but I hope to post more regularly on here.
They posted this great list of 7 awesome facts about Tron Legacy over on io9. This might have been the coolest movie to work on: practical sets, Olivia Wilde, Daft Punk playing a mini rave on set at 4am, and a character inspired by David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust. Read more about it, and spoilers, here.
From Mosaic here’s a nice little mini documentary about Daft Punk.
Can’t say more about this than I’ve already said, so here it is: Olivia Wilde, Daft Punk, light cycles, 3D, awesome, awesome, awesome.
Do yourself a favor and watch this in 1080p on youtube.
I’ve always had respect for and been a fan of Kanye West. He’s worked with Daft Punk, he’s involved in fashion, he’s outspoken, and he’s making it all happen despite the haters hating. What’s he going to do next? Open a restaurant? Who knows. For now, I really like his directing debut with Runaway. There’s a lot going on here. It’s beautifully shot (check out the color treatment and compositions), great effects and choreography, and I’m thinking Kanye’s seen Matthew Barney’s Cremaster Cycle at least once. Here it is, uncensored, possibly NSFW, and clocking in at almost 35 minutes. Enjoy!
Here’s a really interesting documentary about Tron Legacy posted by Machinima on youtube. It’s interesting to hear from the directors, designers, and Olivia Wilde. I’m taking a wild guess here by saying that the background music is by Daft Punk, who wrote the music for the film. This movie is going to be all sorts of awesome.
I can’t leave a Tron post alone without mentioning the amazing Olivia Wilde. So here she is talking to E! Online about wanting to dress up in a Wookie or Stormtrooper costume (gulp). She talks about Tron too, so that’s pretty cool.
