After like three months of putting together our Halloween party at PANIC! here are the videos from the night. All the bands just killed it. I was beyond happy it all worked out and smiling ear to ear the whole time inside my Jawa costume. Of course I remembered to shoot video just before leaving the house and didn’t realize I only had 20 minutes left of battery juice on my camera, but I was at least able to squeeze out one video for each band. Photos from the night coming soon.

From the fine folks who brought you The Rosen Association, we now have Bird Museum. I dig the minimal warm sounding electronics and the vocals sound great. Have I mentioned how lucky I am to have such talented friends in this city? Can’t wait to hear more!

I spent the last five days in Los Angeles having an amazing time, which included seeing Portishead live at The Shrine. It was a great venue that reminded me of The Aragon, but smaller and with better acoustics. I’m so glad I decided to go see them. They sounded great as a 6 piece, Beth’s voice hasn’t changed in all these years, and a clear highlights for me were “Glory Box” and “Wandering Star”, and well everything from the “Dummy” album. “Sour Times” sounded like it was played a bit faster than usual and with less instrumentation, yet still incredible to hear live. The live video mixing with the mutliple on-stage cameras was perfect as well. I could go on and on but yeah, check out this video from Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and see for yourself.
Gorillaz turn 10!
Sitting on my bed at the Westin in Houston I came across the new video by The Horrors for their song “I Can See Through You”. It’s reawakened my love of the mirror/ kaliedascope effect and reminds me, and everybody, that The Horrors can do no wrong. It’s a trippy and beautiful 2001-esque ride that only makes the song better. Directed by White Rabbit. Watch it. Love it.
PANIC! Halloween Party!
There you have it. Poster by Joe Padilla. I’m wearing fucking Jawa costume for this. I can’t wait to hear songs by three of my favourite bands.
