Here’s a couple of shots from the 35mm camera taken in Chicago and Kansas City on a work trip last month.

120 Minutes

If you’re in the Chicago area and for some strange reason are not attending PANIC! tonight, then sit your sweet ass down in front of your TV and watch the epic return of 120 Minutes with Matt Pinfield at midnight Chicago time on MTV2. Pitchfork has the story about the first show here.

Joe’s Camera

I bought this Kodak VR35 K12 at an estate sale last weekend. The estate being of a longtime neighbor named Joe who passed away recently. He was over 90 years old and lived there for most of his life. I was curious about checking out his house and seeing what the estate sale was so I stopped in. The house looks like it hadn’t been updated in decades, which was strangely nice to see. If only it had been kept in better condition. Sadly I think it’s going to be bought, torn down, and replaced with a 3 story cinder block fort, like they tend to do on my street. The photos below are from the roll of film that was in the camera. Apparently it had been shot in the late 80′s and never developed. The Osco brand film started fading and leaving a pinkish hue on some parts of the image, which makes me like it even more. I wonder where he went on vacation. I’m guessing California. I wonder who those kids are too. They must be in their late 20′s by now. I also think the guy in the yellow shirt looks pretty cool. I hope he still has that car.
I’m going to leave a set of prints in the mailbox for Joe’s family with a note. I think they’d like to see them. To see the rest online, go to the flickr page here.

PANIC! on July 30th

This month’s PANIC! should be a blast. Scary Lady Sarah, one of my favourite people and DJ’s is back and people are already talking about the party. If you’re reading this, I hope to see you there.

My job

Work has been great lately. One of my favorite recent edits is on the homepage of playboy.com so I thought I’d share. It was shot by my friend and colleague Bill White and stars the gorgeous Veronica LaVery. It was a fun edit to put together and it’s SFW, so enjoy!

I also just spent most of last week in Columbus, Ohio shooting video for the Playboy Casting Calls. It was a blast, and I’d love to get back there some time and see more of the city. In June, The Atlantic reported from the casting call in Kansas City where this photo was taken of me and my favorite shooting partner, James with one of the girls.

Tumblr

So I’ve been a bad blogger lately. Sure, it’s summer and I’ve been busy and traveling for work and have I mentioned it’s summer? Also there’s a new love in my life called tumblr. It’s so simple, yet so brilliant. I described tumblr to a friend like this – Imagine if the internet is a magazine and you tear out pictures you like and tape them to your wall. Then everybody else can share and reblog each other’s posts. That’s tumblr. I also like posting things that are random that I can’t post here because there’s not much to say other than “hey check out this cool gif”. On here, I’d rather post content I’m inspired to write something about. I’m also posting NSFW content on tumblr. You’ve been warned. Here’s a couple of the things I’ve posted recently on there that I’ve come across in my travels around the internets. Go check it out to see more: Panic Films tumblr.

Fashion Film Friday!

So I’ve been away most of the week on official Playboy Casting Call business in lovely Columbus, Ohio. Now I’m back to DJ the new Parklife dance party tonight at Lucky Number Grill and post this new fashion film by the very talented Solveig Selj.

The Horrors – Skying

Sterogum is streaming The Horrors new album Skying before it’s released. It’s different from the other 2 albums but it’s definitely great. There’s still a goth/new wave influence but it feels more calm and mature. Recommended.

Girls on Film

Here’s a video of dec8de performing Duran Duran’s “Girls on Film” at PANIC!. I wasn’t totally happy with the look of the edit as it was so I ran with the “on film” concept from the title and ended up with the resulting scratched film look.
