Dum Dum Girls‘ “I Will Be” might just be the album of this summer. My only complaint is that it’s so short! For now, here’s a great video that fits the song perfectly: low fi, colorful, textured, awesome.
The same director, Christin Turner also directed “Refuse Angels” by Crocodiles. I may have a new favorite video director.
On my LA visit I stopped by the Lomography store and bought some film and looked around. So many fun cameras to check out, photos to look at, and all kinds of cool lenses and accessories. Chicago definitely needs a Lomo store. Here’s a photo from the Diana F+ camera taken in West Hollywood, LAX, Silver Lake, and Universal City Walk. Check out the rest on my flickr.
Good to be back home after almost a week in LA. Photos and perhaps some video coming soon. For now, I’ll start the week with this sexy as hell yet SFW video by Evgen Stroynov I found on NSFWORLD with music by Wolfmother.
I shot this video last night at Reggies Rock Club of The Handsome Devilz performing “Nowhere Fast” by The Smiths”. I DJ’d before them and Swoon Method along with DJ Tony Macias. It’s always a family affair to do shows with this bunch and I had a blast. People even came from other states to see the show. Good times for a change….
Don’t forget to turn on the 1080p for all the HD goodness.
I had a total blast this weekend at the MODchicago Weekender. Both darkroom and Late Bar had totally fun dance parties, people dressed up, music that I never heard before, and a really fun vibe. Since I don’t know any of the artists, I found this video for “The Woods” by Nickel Bag randomly on youtube so I thought I’d share.
For more info on the mod scene, check out modculture. While checking the site just now I discovered LA band The Like and this music video for “He’s Not a Boy”.
This trailer for a possible new Mortal Kombat film came out this past week. Apparently it was a sample for the director to show the studio his vision of what it would be. I never really got into Mortal Kombat, being a Street Fighter fan but this movie might make me a believer.
I found the Casino Royale DVD at Best Buy this weekend for $4.99! Being a huge fan of sixties spy movies and James Bond, I was all over that. This one definitely has the 2006 Casino Royale beat by a long shot. Watching it again, I’ve fallen in love with a young Barbara Bouchet playing Miss Moneypenny, remembered how funny Woody Allen always was, and spotted yet another scene lifted by Mike Myers for Austin Powers.
Recommended viewing: the Flint movies, Danger: Diabolik (one of my all time favorite movies), the 1966 Batman movie, Get Smart TV series from 1965, and even CQ (even though it came out in 2001). Hell, I’ll even put the first Austin Powers movie on that list as well because after that, the series started to go downhill very fast.
Now this is a sports bar I can hang out at! Like the previous post, this adidas commercial is badass on so many levels: Daft Punk hanging at the cantina, Ian Brown and Noel Gallagher hanging out together, and Snoop Dogg as a Jedi. I always knew The Force was strong with him.
